Helvetica Serif
&ndash Typeface ConceptWhilst studying at the University of Brighton, I was given a brief to design something that no-one had ever seen before. In reaction to my tutor’s strict ‘sans serif only’ typeface use I thought I would desecrate all that he held dear. After initially adding serifs to Akzidenz Grotesk, I decided that ‘Helvetica serif’ was more poetic.
By adding decorative serifs to the definitive modernist typeface, I aimed to rob Helvetica of its neutrality.
If any budding type designers fancy breathing some life back into this project, please get in touch.
